We offer short-term acute care services to assist children and adolescents, ages six through 17, who are experiencing emotional, psychological and behavioral problems.
Parents are active participants throughout the treatment process that operates with a strong family focus. An interdisciplinary approach brings together treatment experts within the context of a highly structured therapeutic milieu.
The program can accommodate children and adolescents who:
- Have a recent history of being a threat to themselves, others or property or have impaired functioning due to psychiatric or substance abuse problems.
- Have a family member or legal guardian who is willing to be actively involved with treatment and discharge planning.
- Have consent for treatment signed by the parent or legal guardian.
- Are functioning at a level at which they are able to understand and benefit from treatment.
Individual, family and group therapy, recreation therapy, art therapy, life skills groups, and medication management are key components of the program.
Classes are held on the premises and feature instruction through Riverside Academy, our on-site school. Academic instruction is coordinated with the student’s home school.
Interdisciplinary Treatment Team
The team of professionals who combine their knowledge, experience and talents to provide treatment is an important component of the program. The team consists of professionals with a wide range of experience including:
- Child/adolescent psychiatry
- Clinical social work
- Art therapy
- Recreational therapy
To foster optimal growth and development, all patients are involved in the treatment planning process. We develop a focused, individualized care plan to capitalize on the strengths of each patient.
