Benjamin Lawless pretty much fell into medicine. During his second year of undergraduate education a friend talked him into joining him in the pre-med program. His friend became an electrician, but Dr. Lawless settled in comfortably. After growing up in a small town with only five physicians (4 Family Practice and 1 surgeon) he felt if he was going to do medicine he needed to be ready for anything, so for his residency training he joined a new rural Family Medicine program where, for several months, he was the only resident in the hospital, seeing patients in the ER, assisting surgeons in the OR, being trained in endoscopy, and doing deliveries, all at all hours of the day, and sometimes all on the same day.
He has settled down in Williamsburg, joining MD Express in 2007, and is currently the medical director for the Williamsburg office.
Hobbies: Scuba diving, hiking, and a general appreciation for being outdoors.
