Riverside Health System Foundation was created by Riverside Health System in 1999 to benefit the community. It is comprised of contributions from the public and Riverside Health System. The Foundation continues to grow with gifts from individuals, families, organizations, corporations and private foundations. The common bond among donors is a desire to support charitable community causes and qualified nonprofit organizations that help improve the health of our community and make Southeast Virginia a better place to live, work and raise a family.
Goals of Riverside Health System Foundation - Improve the health and quality of life for area citizens
- Provide sound stewardship for funds entrusted to our care
- Collaborate with others in the community to fund priority projects
- Exercise leadership in the local philanthropic community by the ongoing and effective assessment of changing community needs and by the exchange of information regarding those needs and the role of the Foundation.
A voluntary Board of Directors oversees the Foundation. The members of the Board are chosen for their leadership qualities, experience and knowledge of the charitable needs of their local communities. The members establish the Foundation's policies and priorities and make final decisions on grant authorizations. The Board meets several times a year to evaluate grant proposals and disburse funds.
