Frequently Asked Questions About the Dental Plans
Q: What are the major plan design changes for the 2013 benefits year?
A: Coverage added for implants: Delta Dental Premier II will now cover implants at 10% of the allowable charge. This will restrict dentists to the allowable charge per Delta Dental and should reduce costs for members. This coverage will have a six month waiting period. However, Riverside dental plan participants will receive credit toward the six-month waiting period for time already served in either Delta Premier I or Delta Premier II.
Delta Dental’s Prevention First will be added to the Delta Premier II plan. This means that diagnostic and preventative care will not count against your annual maximum benefit when you see a PPO participating dentist beginning in 2013.
Q: How do I get my dental insurance card(s)?A: If you are a new Delta Dental member or are an existing member making coverage changes, you should receive your new card in late-December. If you are maintaining your Delta Dental coverage in 2013 and making no changes, you should continue to use your current card. If you have not received your Delta Dental cards and your dental insurance premiums are being deducted from your pay, you should first contact Delta Dental at (800) 237-6060 in order to verify your current address and to check to see if your cards have been sent.
You may obtain additional ID cards by calling Delta Dental’s Benefit Services Department at (800) 237-6060 or you can print a copy by visiting their website at www.deltadentalva.com.
Q: How do I know which Delta Dental plan I have, Premier I or Premier II?
A: Login to Employee Self Service (ESS) and click on the RHS Current Benefits tab. This will provide you with a detailed listing of your current benefit plans and coverage. If you elect Premier II, you are required to maintain coverage for a minimum of 2 years.
Q: Can I use the new Discovery Benefits Flexible Spending Account debit card for dental expenses?
A: No. You will need to file paper claim forms to be reimbursed for qualified dental expenses. The limited-use debit card is limited to Riverside participating providers and pharmacies participating in the Inventory Information Approval System, which includes most major chain pharmacies.
Q: Where can I find a list of participating dentists?
A: A complete list of participating dentists can be found on the Delta Dental web site at www.deltadentalva.com or can be obtained by calling 1-800-237-6060.
