Community Health Needs Assessment

Riverside Health System has a tradition of community involvement spanning more than 100 years. A fund-raising effort that started in 1910 enabled us to open our
f121205_Riverside_Care_Difference_Signature_Mark_RCDirst hospital in downtown Newport News. Since then we have relocated that facility and built two other hospitals, all with generous community support. Giving back is ingrained in our mission of caring for others as we would for those we love to enhance well-being and improve health. Participation and partnership as citizens of the community are vital to us.

Over the past two years, we've worked with local leaders to take a deeper look at our coverage area to investigate ways we can better serve each community. Health departments, government agencies, businesses, school systems and many others participated in this process. The result is a series of community health needs assessments listed below. These reports paint a picture of health concerns and service gaps, but they also give us a blueprint for how to move forward. We have been working with community leaders to formulate action plans with next steps, to further our mission to enhance well-being and improve health not only for patients, but also for families and ultimately for our communities as a whole.
