JOB SUMMARY:

An RN possessing basic concepts and principles of routine nursing care, who utilizes the nursing process in providing preoperative care after extended training in the Operating Room. Must possess the skills of observation, assessment, anticipation, logic, communication, interpretation of diagnostic data, and evaluation. Must provide care that is in accordance with current AORN standards. Is responsible for total nursing care of the patient during the preoperative phase. Must understand the concepts of aseptic technique, methods of sterilization and disinfection, types of anesthesia, and principles of positioning. Assists surgical team and anesthesiologist as needed. Must have technical understanding of a wide variety of basic and specialty O.R. equipment.
EDUCATION: BSN preferred; CNOR certification highly desired; current ACLS certification required
