ED Support Services Tech
Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA is currently seeking a labor pool ED Support Services Technician. JOB SUMMARY: Works under the supervision of the Support Services tech and ED nurse manager and ED supervisor. This position performs routine and special blood collections according to established protocols and standard operation procedures. The position is also responsible for explaining specimen collection procedures and instructions to patients, nurses, physicians, etc. The SST may also be responsible for performing patients EKG's, ABG's, and placing patients on cardiac monitor. The SST must maintain patient confidentiality and properly identify patients according to guidelines set forth by the facility, (i.e. patient safety goals). This person is a vital member of the trauma team. Responsible for intravenous access and delivery of emergency blood samples. Also responsible for the delivery of blood products to the bedside staff for use in a trauma or critical patient. This position is responsible for maintaining proper inventory in the department and for keeping appropriate stock levels in the collection basket. The SST is also responsible for printing, monitoring, and distributing patient reports to proper locations. The SST is required to follow all quality control and quality assurance guidelines established in the department to include accurate performance of job duties with proper documentation. The SST is responsible for effective intradepartmental and interdepartmental communications to include such items as shift to shift hand off pending collection inquiries and resolutions. Critical thinking and prioritization is critical for this role as will be responsible for maintaining timely collections and results to expedite patient care. Riverside Health System is currently seeking a part-time Telemetry Technician at Hampton Roads Specialty Hospital. HRSH is a 25-bed long-term acute care hospital, peacefully located on the beautiful waterfront of Newport News on the Virginia Peninsula. Our specialty hospital cares for patients who have medically complex conditions that require acute care over an average stay of 25 days. The Telemetry Technician works under the supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Manager and the Director of Clinical Services. The selected candidate must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform accurate telemetry monitoring. This role performs 12 lead EKGs on Adults. Successful candidate will have the ability of entering data, storing, editing, and retrieving data in a safe and efficient manner within the computer system. This role performs clerical, secretarial and other duties as assigned. Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Successful completion of a documented Cardiac Technician course, basic EKG course and/or current ACLS certification. Certification: BLS required Experience: 1 -2 years experience preferred working in a telemetry unit or Advanced Life Support EMS in the field.
