He/She demonstrates knowledge of family systems and dynamics and incorporates this theory into care. Bereavement Coordinator must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient or client served. Must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the lifespan and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status. Makes visits to patient/family prior to death and are available to families/caregivers during the bereavement period. Participates as a member of the IDT. Coordinates bereavement services to patients and families. Supports the Hospice Philosophy. EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or higher preferred. Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA is currently seeking a labor pool ED Support Services Technician. JOB SUMMARY: Works under the supervision of the Support Services tech and ED nurse manager and ED supervisor. This position performs routine and special blood collections according to established protocols and standard operation procedures. The position is also responsible for explaining specimen collection procedures and instructions to patients, nurses, physicians, etc. The SST may also be responsible for performing patients EKG's, ABG's, and placing patients on cardiac monitor. The SST must maintain patient confidentiality and properly identify patients according to guidelines set forth by the facility, (i.e. patient safety goals). This person is a vital member of the trauma team. Responsible for intravenous access and delivery of emergency blood samples. Also responsible for the delivery of blood products to the bedside staff for use in a trauma or critical patient. This position is responsible for maintaining proper inventory in the department and for keeping appropriate stock levels in the collection basket. The SST is also responsible for printing, monitoring, and distributing patient reports to proper locations. The SST is required to follow all quality control and quality assurance guidelines established in the department to include accurate performance of job duties with proper documentation. The SST is responsible for effective intradepartmental and interdepartmental communications to include such items as shift to shift hand off pending collection inquiries and resolutions. Critical thinking and prioritization is critical for this role as will be responsible for maintaining timely collections and results to expedite patient care.
