ED Support Services Tech
Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA is currently seeking a labor pool ED Support Services Technician. JOB SUMMARY: Works under the supervision of the Support Services tech and ED nurse manager and ED supervisor. This position performs routine and special blood collections according to established protocols and standard operation procedures. The position is also responsible for explaining specimen collection procedures and instructions to patients, nurses, physicians, etc. The SST may also be responsible for performing patients EKG's, ABG's, and placing patients on cardiac monitor. The SST must maintain patient confidentiality and properly identify patients according to guidelines set forth by the facility, (i.e. patient safety goals). This person is a vital member of the trauma team. Responsible for intravenous access and delivery of emergency blood samples. Also responsible for the delivery of blood products to the bedside staff for use in a trauma or critical patient. This position is responsible for maintaining proper inventory in the department and for keeping appropriate stock levels in the collection basket. The SST is also responsible for printing, monitoring, and distributing patient reports to proper locations. The SST is required to follow all quality control and quality assurance guidelines established in the department to include accurate performance of job duties with proper documentation. The SST is responsible for effective intradepartmental and interdepartmental communications to include such items as shift to shift hand off pending collection inquiries and resolutions. Critical thinking and prioritization is critical for this role as will be responsible for maintaining timely collections and results to expedite patient care. EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalence preferred. LICENSURE: ASCP or equivalent certification preferred. EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in blood collection techniques preferred. Surgical Tech
Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, VA is currently seeking a full-time Surgical Tech. This position works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in the Operating Room as well as the Nurse Manager. Assists with the coordination of nursing care of the patient in the operating room and functions as a team member of the surgical team. Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of equipment, instrumentation and supplies on the sterile field. Requires utilization of simple to complex equipment. Requires the cleaning and replenishment of equipment and supplies in order to maintain quality patient care. Participates in quality patient assurance, in-service and customer service programs. Responsible for the handling and management of specimens and surgical counts. Assumes the role of expert for specific surgical service, is responsible for monitoring the surgical schedule for equipment and supply needs, prepares for daily case readiness, supports the Specialty Nurse with the surgeon preference cards, and for identifying, communicating, and educating service changes. EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited surgical technician program or equivalent required. Ideal candidate will possess CST certification. EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in surgical technician role a plus.

Ultrasonographer
Job Summary: Working under the supervision of a qualified physician and management team, the sonographer performs a variety of Ultrasound examinations on all patient types utilizing ultrasonic equipment for the diagnosis of disease in humans. Functioning as a team member, produces high quality scans following all policy, procedures , and best practices. The sonographer is flexible in the work assignments, takes call, and assists with student teaching. Responsible for maintenance of equipment, instrumentation and departmental supplies. Responsible for the handling and management of specimens from biopsy/aspiration procedures. Requires utilization of simple to complex equipment. Requires the cleaning of equipment and replenishment of supplies in order to maintain quality patient care. Responsible for necessary daily and monthly quality control performance and documentation. Complies with National Patient Safety Goals, HIPPA guidelines TJC, ARDMS, and ACR accreditation. Completes CBL/CMEs/CPR requirements. Committed to a culture of safety and customer service. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Education: Accredited allied health program or equivalent. ARDMS registered or registry eligible in physics, abdomen and small parts. Experience: New graduate or previous experience in general ultrasound. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Ability to perform ultrasound procedures, both invasive and non-invasive. Fine motor skills, precise hand/eye coordination, typing, manipulation of small items and equipment, and speaking clearly required. Must be able to input data, answer the telephone, and utilize computer systems. Essential Mental/Physical Requirements: Ability to push, pull and move hospital equipment, transport patients, and lift/support patients as necessary. The ability to understand a change in a patients condition and respond quickly. Ability to accept supervision and direction from the physician and other members of the team. . The ability to make safe choices for the patient. Observes and has memory for details. Able to lift 25 pounds unassisted. Exposure to Hazards: Frequent exposure to potentially infectious body fluids and sharps, occasional exposure to x-ray and toxic chemicals used for disinfection, and specialty equipment that require knowledge and training.
