Application Systems Programmer / Analyst Intermediate

Under general supervision, formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Designs, codes, tests, debugs , documents and maintains those programs. Works directly with physicians, advisory committees and the Riverside VP of Clinical Informatics to analyze clinical processes and quality standards in order to adapt them via their programming skills to a highly integrated information system. Ensures that the design of the clinical content facilitates providers' ability to document in accordance with necessary data capture, billing/coding requirements and quality reporting. Supports I.S. Physician Services adjunct applications and systems. Performs data mining and report writing. Works under the supervision of the I.S. Physician Services Director and Manager.
Previous programming experience preferred. Experience working in medical informatics or a medical practice using EMR preferred. Possess at minimum a moderate understanding of medical terminology. Moderate to extensive programming experience preferred. Experience working in the medical informatics field or a physician practice beneficial.

Largely responsible for all activities and ongoing support associated with the use of EMR by Health System entities (Diagnostic Centers, Laboratories, Radiology, ED's, Patient Access, Central Scheduling, etc.). Evaluates and prepares for application system upgrades.
