The Command Center:  Your Nervous System
"I think, therefore I am", the philosopher has remarked. The brain functions as the body's command center, and not only defines our thought and personality, but in concert with spinal cord and nerves orchestrates the complex interplay of all bodily functions. From diseases of the central nervous system, in particular stroke, we have learned about highly specialized areas within the brain. This talk will provide an overview over basic and functional neuroanatomy, and discuss how modern technology allows the Neurointerventional Surgeon to treat life threatening neurovascular disorders and restore brain function through a tiny incision in the groin.
