The Doctor is In, Riverside's popular lecture series in Newport News, is back with informative discussions on a wide range of health topics for people of all ages. In 2015, lectures will be the last Wednesday of the month in February, April, June, August and October.

Dietcise is an 8-week program that combines effective fat-burning exercise in a non-intimidating group setting with nutrition education emphasizing balance, variety and moderation. Certified Aerobic Instructors teach the exercise program and Registered Dietitians teach the nutrition classes.

Multiple Sclerosis Support Group
Come and spend some productive time with people who understand firsthand what you're experiencing. And it's a good opportunity to learn more about advancements in MS treatment and to exchange information and coping strategies in a comfortable and confidential setting.

Better Breathers Club
Riverside Sleep and Pulmonary Center has partnered with the American Lung Association to provide monthly Better Breathers Club meetings for the community. Better Breathers Clubs meet regularly to provide support, education and socialization to people with COPD or another chronic lung disease, their family members and their caregivers. A facilitator coordinates and oversees the meetings, brings in featured speakers and collects information and feedback from the participants. Parkinson's Support Group
The Peninsula Parkinson's Support Group offers strategies on how to deal with challenges, enhance your health and wellness and maintain your quality of life to the highest degree possible. You have the opportunity to see how your experience, while unique to your particular situation, is part of a larger world of similar circumstances and people. Simply put, you realize that you are not alone.

Diabetes Community Groups
Our community groups are designed to put you in touch with other people, who like you, are working to manage their diabetes. Each group has a skilled support group leader.

Diabetes Ask the Educator
The focus is on living a full and healthy life with diabetes. The group offers support, advice and the latest health information. Call beforehand to confirm meeting time and location.

Hospice Volunteer Training
Riverside Hospice offers an 8-hour training course to teach you the skills you need to become a volunteer for our hospice services. This one-day course is held on a Saturday and includes a complimentary lunch. There is no fee for the course.
