Riverside Doctor Inaugurated As President of the Medical Society of Virginia

Hugh_BryanNewport News, VA — Dr. Hugh M. Bryan III, of Riverside York River Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Gloucester, was sworn into office on October 29, 2011 as president of the Medical Society of Virginia (MSV).

MSV supports Virginia physicians in the practice of medicine and is made up of a diverse group of doctors who know that medicine now extends beyond caring for patients—physicians must also be business people, insurance experts, community leaders and regulatory watchdogs. MSV is focused on enhancing the professional fulfillment of its members by being a primary influence and key participant on issues important to physicians and the delivery of healthcare in Virginia. Through their actions, MSV promotes a stronger patient-physician relationship for greater overall satisfaction for both.

Dr. Bryan has served as president of the Mid-Tidewater Medical Society, the local Medical Society for Gloucester, Mathews, Middlesex and King and Queen Counties, and the towns of Urbanna, West Point and Rappahannock. During that tenure, he attended meetings as a delegate of the Medical Society of Virginia.

As a member of the MSV, Dr. Bryan has served on the board of directors and was elected Vice Speaker of the House of Delegates in 2005 and Speaker of the House in 2007. As the new president of the Medical Society of Virginia Dr. Bryan will continue the organization's vision to make Virginia the best place in the United States in which to practice medicine.
