The only hospital or health system in Virginia to receive the honor in 2007
For the ninth year, Hospitals & Health Networks has named the 100 Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems. The list is based on the Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study, which asks hospitals to report on how they use information technology to address five key areas: safety and quality, customer service, business processes, workforce, and public health and safety.
Riverside was the only hospital in the Commonwealth of Virginia to receive this distinction in 2007. It is the third consecutive year that Riverside has received the honor.
Winning hospitals and health systems demonstrated the sophisticated use of information technologies to improve patient care.
Patient care is improved in winning hospitals by using information technologies to improve patient flow, to help physicians communicate with technical and diagnostic staff and for process improvement. Information technologies also help monitor quality, make sure the proper medications are administered, helps make diagnostic imaging available anywhere the physician needs it, and for electronic medical records.
